When using pet rabies test strips, the following points should be noted to ensure the accuracy of test results and the safety of operation

1、 Sample collection

Sample selection: Usually, conjunctival swabs or nasal mucosal swabs are used, and sometimes other body fluid samples may also be used, according to the test strip instructions and veterinary recommendations.
Clean and pollution-free: Ensure that the container is clean and free of contamination during the sample collection process, and avoid cross contamination.

2、 Test paper operation

Quick use: The test paper is sensitive to light and humidity, and should be used quickly after opening the packaging to avoid prolonged exposure to air.
Correct sample addition: According to the instructions in the manual, place the collected sample in the designated position on the test paper to ensure sufficient contact between the sample and the test paper. Be careful not to add the sample too quickly or too viscous, it is best to use the supernatant of the diluent.
Waiting time: Strictly follow the instructions in the manual to wait for the required time, allowing the test paper to fully react with the sample.

3、 Result interpretation

Time requirement: Read the results within the specified time frame, which is usually clearly indicated in the instruction manual.
Result interpretation: Observe whether there are specific lines or color changes on the test strip window or small hole, which are related to the positive or negative results of rabies. Pay attention to distinguishing between positive, negative, and invalid results, and follow the instructions in the manual.

4、 Other precautions

Test paper storage: Test papers should be stored in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Different batches of test strips cannot be mixed to avoid affecting the test results.
Biosafety: All samples, waste liquids, and waste materials should be treated as infectious agents, and attention should be paid to the biosafety of operations. Used test strips and plates should be handled properly to avoid cross infection.
Follow medical advice: The test strip test results may be affected by various factors, including sample quality, operating procedures, etc. Therefore, before using test strips, it is necessary to carefully read the instructions and follow the guidance of a veterinarian. For pets suspected of being infected with rabies, they should seek medical attention promptly and follow veterinary treatment recommendations.

5、 Special case handling

False positive or false negative: There may be false positive or false negative results in the test paper. If this situation occurs, a veterinarian should be consulted for further diagnosis.
Abnormal reaction: If abnormal reactions (such as abnormal color changes, blurred lines, etc.) are found on the test paper during operation, it should be stopped from use and a veterinarian should be consulted.

When using pet rabies test strips, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions and veterinary guidance to ensure standardized operation, reliable sample quality, and accurate result interpretation. At the same time, attention should also be paid to biosafety and personal protection to avoid cross infection and accidental injury.
